Middle Eastern Delights ??
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, here we come!?It is 5 years since my first trip, but the flame has continued to burn with the promise of supporting some of the fabulous schools that have started throughout the region. This month we launch Blue Apple Education in UAE and we are thrilled.
When I say ‘we’, our own?Mark Davis?wins on personal connection - his father spent most of his working life in Saudi Arabia. At last we understand Mark’s bulk orders of ‘proper’ Turkish Delight!
Also very proper are?Roy Strik?and?Nagham Abdulhadi, who will be heading up the new?blueappleeducation.ae?office in Dubai. Several schools have already received support to identify their ‘remarkable’ and we are proud of their willingness to develop and of the impact made so far.

Taking the?Middle Way
Gateway School?didn’t want to abandon their previous logo, even though its meaning was lost in the corridors of school history; nor did they want to plunge into hiphop-inspired abstract psychedelia. We were pleased, therefore, to modernise the logo’s proud heraldic lions, to reflect the values of the school, and to present a fresh and inspiring design with a nod to tradition.
We played with a colour palette that aligned with the school uniform – burgundy and gold – to create a logo that captures the strength and tenderness of the?Gateway Lion?– the child who is given the space and time to find their own talents and build on their strengths.

Somewhere in the Middle: Creating an Amazing Promotional Video for Your School
The power of the video is awesome. As you have worked on identifying the remarkable in your school or academy, you will have determined what message you want to release; now you can start to think about what to include so as to tell your story:
You don’t need to try and squash in everything special and noteworthy about your school; you are weaving a (kindly!) spell with your storytelling. There is a spectrum from very realistic and grounded – talking heads giving information to camera – to ethereal and opaque – images and symbols not obviously connected with your school. If, in conversation with the experts advising you, you opt for either extreme, that’s fine; most schools, however, go for somewhere in the middle.

Fair?to?Middling?and?Better
Master of the Masterclasses, BAE’s?Mark Davis, recently met up with?John Brennan?from?Glove?to deliver the Masterclass, How to grow your Multi-Academy Trust using Marketing & Communications. They began by referencing the government’s white paper that describes a viable Trust as one with at least 10 schools with 7500 pupils. Don’t panic if this doesn’t sound like your set-up -?only 15% of Trusts currently meet this criteria.
So you’re doing OK -?but how to do better?
Our friendly experts give us all the jargon - marcomms! - and work through five key steps to growth:

Beginning, middle and rousing finale
From opening scene to closing credits, your school video is an opportunity to captivate viewers and get the good reviews.
Before anyone picks up a camera, our team will work with you to learn what makes your school remarkable. We get to the heart of your school’s uniqueness and how we can best represent that in a school video.
We then combine what we learn with creative and technical expertise to highlight your school’s strengths and let you tell your story.
The resulting school video is a significant part of any effective marketing plan across all channels, and our experienced team is eager to ensure you reach your audience and keep them engaged.
The creative journey is only just beginning.
