MIDAS Monthly - November
MIDAS Manchester's Inward Investment Agency
Connecting Greater Manchester to the world to create investment and jobs in the city-region.
October has marked another exceptional chapter in Greater Manchester's economic progress.
The strengths of our city-region continue to attract major businesses, with Virgin Media O2 announcing their expansion into Greater Manchester and Channel 4 enhancing their regional presence – both testament to our thriving creative, digital and tech ecosystem. We have also celebrated the commitment by Kao Data to invest £350 million in a new data centre in Stockport.
Germany featured prominently in our international efforts, with Mayor Andy Burnham leading a delegation to discuss innovation in the Ruhr region. At Expo Real in Munich, I had the privilege of presenting our region's compelling opportunities to international property investors through several engaging panel discussions.
Our Life Sciences mission to Singapore and India, alongside Health Innovation Manchester, explored new collaborations. This builds on the announcement at the Global Investment Summit of a collaborative weight-loss drug development project between Eli Lilly, Health Innovation Manchester, and The University of Manchester.
As we look to November, our Advanced Manufacturing team will lead a key delegation to Japan, pursuing investments that align with Greater Manchester's advanced manufacturing investment zone and priorities for sustainable growth.
We will join our Greater Manchester community in marking Remembrance Day and share Thanksgiving celebrations with our American investment partners and friends.
Will you be at any of the above events and would you like to meet us?
Please get in touch . We look forward to seeing you!
