Mid Morning Musings

Mid Morning Musings

Nobody has any idea what's going to happen next on the national or world stage. It pays to be prepared for whatever may come. And then, for the most part, life goes on.

A man can deny the law of buoyancy and still swim, but if he denies the law of gravity, he'd better stay far from the edge of any cliff.

The more a person lies to others, the more he is himself disconnected from reality, and the more tenuous his grip becomes on fact.

Aristotle saw the importance of our connection to truth. Those who are untethered to what is show poor judgment in nearly everything.

Unethical "success" is always self destructive over the long run. Emerson's essay on Napoleon is masterful on this dynamic. We should all take heed.

We're here to be inner alchemists, but we prefer to become outer architects instead—building structures intellectually, socially, politically, and physically.

I've known plenty of people who study theology to keep the real issues of faith and commitment at arm's length.

I've known people who read self-help and personal development literature instead of doing any real work on improving themselves.

We complicate everything simple. And then we work hard to simplify the complex. We keep ourselves busy, don't we?
