Mid-Air Collision Over Melbourne Bay
In a mid-air collision over Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne, Australia, two SIAI-Marchetti S.211 aircraft, operated by Jetworks Aviation, collided during a private formation flight. The incident occurred around 13:45 on November 19, 2023, approximately 12 km west of Mornington, VIC. One aircraft, registered as VH-DQJ, sustained minor damage and landed safely at Melbourne-Essendon Fields Airport. The second plane, VH-DZJ, crashed into the bay, with search operations underway for the two missing occupants. Debris including a plane tyre and orange fragments were recovered, and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority is coordinating the search. Corendon Flight CD-617 Encounters Elevator Issues
A Corendon Boeing 737-800 (PH-CDF) on flight CD-617 from Amsterdam to Hurghada, experienced elevator issues near Munich, Germany, at FL350, prompting a return to Amsterdam. The crew reported elevator pressure problems and aimed to avoid icing, necessitating a high-altitude return, landing safely two hours post-departure. AVD Turbo Beaver Cleared for Launch by Canada's Civil Aviation Authority
Canada's Civil Aviation Authority has officially approved the AVD Turbo Beaver, a modernized bush aircraft derived from de Havilland Canada's DHC-2 Beaver.
