Piper PA-46 Aircraft Crash Kills Seven in Brazil

On January 28, 2024, a Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage JetPROP DLX, registered as PS-MTG, owned by IT'S Solu??es Ltda, crashed near Bairro Monjolinho, Itapeva, Minas Gerais, Brazil, resulting in the death of all seven occupants. The aircraft, en route from Campinas-Amarais Airport, SP to Belo Horizonte/Pampulha Airport, MG, experienced an in-flight breakup during adverse weather conditions, leading to its destruction. The Brazilian Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) has been engaged to investigate the crash, focusing on the aircraft's encounter with weather and its airworthiness for non-commercial operations. Hard Landing in Hawaii Injures Six

On January 27, 2024, American Airlines Flight AA-271, an Airbus A321-200N, encountered a hard landing at Kahului Airport, Maui, Hawaii, resulting in six injuries. The flight, originating from Los Angeles, California, experienced the incident at approximately 2:05 PM local time, with the aircraft sustaining no further issues and vacating the runway normally. The Federal Aviation Administration has initiated an investigation, while the injured, including five cabin crew and one passenger, were treated at a local hospital and released. UK CAA Explores Vertiports for eVTOLs

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has initiated a consultation on integrating vertiports into existing aerodromes, anticipating the introduction of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, commonly known as air taxis. These vertiports are envisaged as sites for eVTOL operations, aiming to enhance efficient and sustainable intercity and airport travel. The CAA's proposal includes adapting current aerodromes for VTOL activities, assessing additional safety requirements such as visual aids, rescue and firefighting services, and designing operational areas to support this emerging aviation sector.
