On my Substack and Medium accounts, I started a deep-dive exploration to benchmark the leading text-to-image platforms and do a face-off. As I declared in the first post on this series (now 3 articles deep):
As we reach the midpoint of 2024, the race to perfect text-to-image generation continues to accelerate. With rapid advancements and new competitors entering the arena, determining which platform truly excels has become more complex than ever. This ongoing evolution means that assessing the best text-to-image generators is not a once-and-for-all task, but rather an ever-changing challenge.
I explain that to do this fairly and with the MOST concern for proper consideration, there must be ground rules (addressed in the first post as well). As those who have used multiple tools - there are different ways to use each platform - from prompting structures, limits to letter count and layering of supporting LLMs applied. With this in mind, I want to make this as reasonable and fair as possible. The first 3 posts (linked below) set the benchmark with Midjourney.

What you will find.
There is an Image Series of 3 different categories explored:
With each 'Series' - a collection of prompts and images are shared.
Series 1: Realistic Portraits?
Here are a few from the Realistic Portraits with Midjourney.

Series 2: Fantasy Landscapes?
The next series, is related to the subject of Fantasy. The same as the first series, all prompts are included in the collection. These prompts and the rendered images will be used for comparison between platforms.
Series 3: Abstract Art
The final series of images for this comparison are those of Abstract Art - meant to embody both the styles and influences of artists from this movement.
What of other styles?
There are other categories to be considered - from various movements and art styles - like sculpture, product design, packaging, watercolor, Bahaus, papercraft, fiber-arts, etc. I chose to limit the comparison to 3 fundamental categories that I felt might best encompass the greatest breadth of possibility. If there is enough interest, I may explore other categories for comparison in future post explorations.
The next articles will begin takings these prompts into other platforms. Keep an eye out over the next several weeks as we look at each of these in the variety of leading platforms. I will compile all of these into an eBook.
