Microsoft's Phone Link app expands to support iPhone and Android devices, enabling easy access to notifications and messages on PCs

Microsoft's Phone Link app has recently been updated to support iPhone users running the latest Windows 11 builds. The app allows users to connect their iPhones to their PCs via Wi-Fi and access notifications, messages, and contacts on their computer.

To use Phone Link, iPhone users must opt-in to one of the 3 Insider Channels via Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program. The preview of Phone Link will be rolled out gradually to a small percentage of insiders over the coming week, and Microsoft plans to expand its availability to additional users based on feedback.

The app does not rely on any particular version of Phone Link and is instead controlled by Microsoft through the cloud. Once the app is installed on the user's PC and iPhone, they can pair the devices by scanning a QR code shown on the computer screen. Users will then be able to access their phone's notifications, messages, and contacts on their PC. However, the app does not support replying to group messages or sending media in messages.

Phone Link replaced Microsoft's Your Phone app in March 2022 and is designed to enable users to connect from their PC to some Android and Samsung devices via a Wi-Fi connection using the Link to Windows app. Link to Windows is pre-installed on selected Samsung, HONOR, and Surface Duo phones running Android 9.0 or later and is also available for any other phone running Android 7.0 or later.

Overall, Microsoft's Phone Link app provides a convenient way for users to access their phone's notifications, messages, and contacts on their PC, and its expanding support for iOS and Android devices makes it a versatile tool for users of different phone types.
