Microsoft announced Azure Edge Zones, an infrastructure service that is an extension of Azure public cloud, which will be available within Microsoft’s global network, telecom provider’s 5G networks, and customer data centers.
Azure Edge Zones is the industry’s most comprehensive edge computing platform. Built on the solid foundation of Azure public cloud and Azure Stack portfolio, Edge Zones brings the power of the cloud to the last mile.

The Edge business will start growing from late 2021 when 5G Networks gain scale. Microsoft is making the right decision by focusing on Edge business and forging partnerships with Telcos. Real Estate will come at a premium at the Azure Edge Zones & Edge Zones with Carrier. Will be interesting to see Enterprises make a decision on the right location for their workloads.
