Microsoft At University Of Salford Business School

Last Friday, 微软 hosted a series of workshops at Salford Business School, offering students insights into careers in technology, Microsoft initiatives in the public sector, discussions on women in tech, and a mini-AI hackathon.

Sara Boswell, Marie Hamilton, Geoffrey Evans, Professor Vish Maheshwari (L-R)

The event began with a panel discussion featuring Marie Hamilton , Microsoft's Greater Manchester Lead, Sara Boswell , Director of the Centre of Sustainability and Innovation, Geoffrey Evans , Programme Leader for Accounting and Finance, and chaired by Professor Vish Maheshwari , Associate Dean Academic at Salford Business School. The panel discussed the importance of Microsoft's digital certifications in boosting students' employability.

Events like this are really important for addressing employability issues and opportunities within the Greater Manchester region. As I mentioned earlier, jobs in tech and digital pay about 51 per cent more than mainstream jobs. Raising awareness is crucial for people to understand the opportunities available - Marie Hamilton, Microsoft's Greater Manchester Lead

Each workshop lasted 35 minutes, with a 5-minute break between sessions to allow students to rotate to the next one, ensuring everyone participated in all sessions.

Demystifying Careers in Technology session

Peace Olutoki , MSc Managing Innovation and Information Technology, said: “So far, it has been interesting, and I have been enjoying the workshops, especially the 'Demystifying Careers in Technology' session. It was great to see industry leaders doing what I aspire to do after completing my masters.”

The event offered valuable insights from industry leaders, provided networking opportunities, and gave students the chance to acquire new skills.
