Basic Prerequisites

  • The Meeting recording needs a Microsoft Stream license.
  • The user has Microsoft Stream upload video permissions.
  • Check if TeamsMeetingPolicy-AllowCloudRecording setting set to true.

What if you have everything set up as expected and still this feature is not working?

Currently, the meeting recording feature is turned off for customers whose Teams data is stored in-country if Microsoft Stream isn't available in the in-country data residency region where the data is stored.

What this means is if your Microsoft Teams data location is in "South Africa" and Microsoft stream data is located in "Global Geography 1 – EMEA" Then your meeting recording will be greyed out and it will not work for your Office 365 tenant.
