Microsoft Surface Hub is back

Microsoft Surface Hub is back

Microsoft made three new announcements today in a webinar and blog that is well worth a read.

As a surprise to the channel, the new product and all the added features of Teams is sure to accelerate Surface Hub’s impact on the market.

  • The biggest surprise was that next year Microsoft will be launching a 85" version of the Surface Hub.This completely changes the expected use for the new generation of Surface Hub, extending the huddle room solution we were expecting for collaborative spaces, back into the full meeting room scenario.
  • Next we heard that they have been working with battery manufacturer APC to incorporate their technology into the displays with Steelcase enabling completely portable collaboration. - Microsoft Surface Hub S and X models moved anywhere you want
  • Finally we also learned that the non compute version of the Hub that we anticipated arriving in 2020 will be available by the end of this year. As the most responsive touch display I have used - this will give the Surface Hub touch experience on its own or linked to a Microsoft Teams Room device  extending the hardware in any scenario.

Surface Hub 2S has already been highly anticipated by the market with many users already committing as a continuation of Hub V1 despite the near year long gap in supply. Today’s announcements not only add a whole lot more to the Hub 2S opportunity but are an absolute statement of the commitment of Microsoft to developing this sector. The 85" announcement will certainly have a massive market impact and together with the introduction of Hub 2X next year, this makes 2020 an exciting one for Microsoft partners.
