Microsoft is Revamping the Look of Applications for Windows 10 and Windows 11 Users – All You Need to Know
24th?June’21 seemed to be a big day for Windows users around the world as the tech giant?unveiled Windows 11. The update, supposedly to be rolled out during the holiday season, is expected to bring a sea?change in the form of?new snap layouts, multi-tasking features,?enhanced security controls and the flexibility of working in hybrid environments.??
Along with this, Microsoft has also announced to refresh the UI with Windows 11.?The?UI that looks much?more?modern than Windows 10 is based on the Fluent design on which Microsoft has been working since 2017.?I did observe that Microsoft is draping certain elements of Windows 10 in new design and?colours.?With Windows 11, I believe that all the components will be designed using the Fluent design.?These new changes support Microsoft’s aim of delivering enhanced, alluring and flexible user experiences.??
Microsoft?Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Outlook, Access, Project, Publisher, and Visio?are some of the few productivity applications that will be receiving the coherent and intuitive interface. The changed UI is first available to Office insiders who?can?access Beta Channel Builds. You have the flexibility to turn off these changes.?The changes can be turned off for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and One Note. If you disable the Coming Soon option in these four applications, the new UI will be automatically turned off for the?other?4 apps.??
Some of the most exciting features, that I would love to try?are?the?customisable?ribbon, neutral?colour?palette and the ease of referencing?the information stored in Word and Excel in my PowerPoint presentations. We would be able to share the presentation directly from Outlook and?view the same in a cohesive interface that would maintain?a?uniform experience for us. Also, like in SharePoint we?are able to?see if someone is coauthoring any document, the same flexibility will be in Microsoft Word. If there?is?more than one co-author?than they would be differentiated with?colours.??

I do understand that there are several issues?the?Microsoft team is facing in streamlining the changes?across the different applications.?But?this doesn’t deter?me?from applauding their effort of?modifying?the applications which?are used widely for work, playing and learning.?Should you have any difficulties in using any of the Microsoft applications, feel free to reach out.??
