As the race against cloud companies continues, Microsoft released 2 new key items related to it's cloud service Azure. The first big announcement will allow private deployment of it's Stack offering for order from OEM launch partners. "With the official release of Azure Stack enabling customers to deploy an Azure-based private cloud, Microsoft is now set to benefit from longstanding enterprise demand for better hybrid cloud capability." This is a unique feature in that it provides a hybrid capability across public and private cloud. Currently, Microsoft is the only provider to offer this type of service as others and AWS are partnering with other software platforms.
The second big announcement was the $250 million sales and marketing investment that will broaden the co-sell program for it's cloud partners. "In a space where there are clear customer community and partner ecosystem network effects typical of a technology platform competition, Microsoft wants to close the market share gap on AWS quickly, as time plays heavily in favor of the market leader." Microsoft's Azure is sure to rise to the top quickly. They consistently stay ahead of the pack with a global partner channel that is the largest among providers as well as more compliance certifications that anyone.
"Microsoft is now set to benefit from longstanding enterprise demand for better hybrid cloud capability. Survey data consistently shows robust demand for hybrid cloud solutions–with 73% of enterprise cloud adopters working a hybrid cloud strategy in one survey by IDC–because it is ideal to have full flexibility and control over when and how your enterprise deploys and operates each application on public versus private infrastructure from a cost optimization and security / compliance perspective."
