Good Morning Microsoft Partner Community
[OPINION] The need for each partner SI or ISV to have someone or a v-team (think tank) in your partner organization dedicated as a vendor strategist to drive their future strategy with Microsoft: (VTS or Vendor Technology Strategist?)
Microsoft as your technology vendor is accelerating at high speed and we will not be taking our foot of the gas any time soon. As this report shows each week we are innovating at a fast pace never seen before and that ultimately is a benefit to your business if you can fully take advantage of it. Having engaged many ISV’s and SI’s over the years one thing is very clear. Each partner should ensure they can identify someone in their organization who is monitoring the markets as they align to Microsoft direction. Perhaps this is someone who does it in addition to their day role out of interest or even a dedicated resource who’s role is to present to leadership up to and including your board on the direction the company should take with Microsoft. After all it is just like the stock market. You want to discover and enter new markets before everyone else spots the opportunity. The advantage of having someone in your org in a role like this is that they can influence your organization to move in directions that would not have happened before. By monitoring industry and Microsoft’s direction and also monitoring your own business and successes you can align to a strategy that will ultimately guide you to embrace a new direction that may not have happened before. You as our global partner community are driving amazing success and in many cases you are resource constrained however with some additional insight can greater success be achieved? Are you missing out on opportunity due to not enough resources or simply working too hard to pause and explore additional opportunities with Microsoft? At a minimum I would advocate with any partner to have their equivalent of a partner technology strategist who will gain sufficient knowledge of Microsoft direction to deliver actionable insights which will open up a new direction for your company. As you report your own end of year fiscal results perhaps one measure of success would be that you opened up a new pipeline of opportunity due to uncovering missed opportunities that now are turning into your next success direction.
This report can help guide as a starting point to where you could be looking for success next and I would encourage you to ensure your colleagues also subscribe but that also you perhaps consider opening up additional lines of communications within your organization so that anyone at any level of your organization can raise their hand and ask (and be heard)…”Microsoft seems to be exploring these new areas, is it something we should be looking at?”
Who in your organization is the Vendor Technology Strategist aligned to monitor Microsoft future direction and drive actionable change?

Black Partner Growth Initiative: Driving innovation and empowering partners:
When the?Black Partner Growth Initiative ?(BPGI) was launched in 2020, the goals were clear. Our team was tasked by Microsoft leadership with creating a focused program within the partner channel that reflected Microsoft’s ambitious mission of?empowering every individual and every organization to achieve more. And since the launch of BPGI, we’ve concentrated on increasing the representation of Black-owned partners and enabling their growth to build one of the largest diverse partner ecosystems in the technology sector
This motion is critical. First, it reflects the core values of our company’s mission and culture. Second, BPGI establishes a platform for seasoned technology leaders, innovative startups, and entrepreneurs alike to create, develop, and grow their business with Microsoft through co-sell go-to-market opportunities and partner-to-partner engagements.
What’s next:
On May 17 we’ll host our inaugural Innovation Summit at the Microsoft Redmond Headquarters. The Innovation Summit will feature executive thought leadership, talks, and workshops from industry leaders and C-level executives within Microsoft. This partner-focused Summit will serve as the graduation of our FY23 Catalyst Accelerator cohort, and attendees will also be able to participate in the inaugural Golf Classic hosted by BCPA. Share this opportunity! We’re also seeking brands, businesses, and teams interested in exhibiting for our BPGI Partners and volunteers who want to donate a helping hand.
