Microsoft Lays Foundation for Mega AI & R&D Campus in Noida, Strengthening India’s AI Ambitions
Noida, India – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has laid the foundation stone for Microsoft’s new state-of-the-art campus in Noida’s Sector 145, marking a significant milestone in India's AI and digital transformation journey. This initiative is expected to create employment opportunities and boost innovation in emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
A Major Investment in India’s Digital Future
The new campus, spanning 15 acres with a built-up area of 1.1 million square feet, will serve as a hub for Microsoft’s Research & Development (R&D) initiatives in India. Recognizing Uttar Pradesh as a prime investment destination, CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized the significance of Microsoft’s decision to establish its facility in Noida.
"Microsoft's investment underscores Uttar Pradesh’s rapid rise as a preferred destination for global tech giants. This initiative will pave the way for new opportunities in the IT sector, reinforcing the state's commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth," CM Yogi stated during the event.
Advancing AI and Engineering Talent in India
Microsoft’s latest expansion aims to strengthen India’s AI ecosystem by enhancing R&D capabilities and nurturing the country’s engineering talent. Rajive Kumar, Managing Director & President of Microsoft IDC, expressed gratitude towards the government and Noida Authority, stating:
"This facility will play a pivotal role in accelerating India's digital transformation and AI-first strategy. We are grateful for the support of the Uttar Pradesh government in making this vision a reality."
With existing R&D centers in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Noida, Microsoft IDC is already India’s largest research facility outside of its headquarters in Redmond, USA. The new Noida campus further cements Microsoft’s commitment to deepening its footprint in India’s tech ecosystem.
Infrastructure Development and Growth in Noida
Apart from the Microsoft campus, CM Yogi Adityanath also inaugurated the foundation of two new underpasses on the Noida Expressway at Sectors 146 and 135, aimed at easing traffic congestion and ensuring smoother connectivity.
