Purview & Copilot Studio integration for improved data security
Copilot & Purview #1:
Microsoft Purview's integration with Copilot Studio is set to make data security straightforward for developers creating custom AI apps - even those low coders out there can activate security features with just a few clicks!
This new integration, which is currently in preview, helps in identifying data risks, managing data from AI apps, and ensuring sensitive information stays safe. Features include:
- discovering data risks in AI interactions.
- auditing custom AI prompts and responses.
- applying retention or deletion policies on prompts and responses.
- limiting access to sensitive data.
- ensuring app-generated responses inherit the sensitivity labels of the referenced files.
These updates mean developers can more easily secure their AI apps, with a low-code/no-code experience!

Security Copilot functionality to be embedded in Microsoft Purview
Copilot & Purview #2:
In terms of Microsoft Purview Compliance capabilities, Microsoft's Security Copilot will be embedded in Microsoft Purview by the end of the year, offering generative AI-powered insights to help teams uncover hidden data risks.
For me, the stand out features here are:
- Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) for deeper insights into data risks, with features that will guide users through a recommended path of investigation, prioritised against the top risks base-lined in your organisation.
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policy understanding in natural language, with new DLP copilot investigation prompts.
Lookout for future articles about these great Purview features that help strengthen an organisation's security posture.
