Microsoft Fabric November 2024 Update
This was released on 19th November and, this month, Adam Saxton (also from “Guy in a Cube”) presents the video.? The video is 1 hour and 29 minutes long so a lot to get through. If you already caught up with the Power BI November update, you can skip through to the 30 minute point leaving only an hour to get through! For the full video and blog go here:
Alternatively you can read my synopsis below:
Platform
Tenant switcher control
This is handy if, like me, you need access to several tenants.
Mirroring
It seems there is a lot happening here in this space and this will be an attractive option for many organisations looking to easily ingest data from their source systems in near real time.? What the cost of this will be should be investigated.
Databases
SQL Databases
This is a whole new component in Fabric in addition to Data Warehouse; “…evolving Microsoft Fabric from an analytics platform into a data platform.”? This is interesting and makes sense in many ways.? To have the ability to create operational databases included in the same infrastructure and licensing model will be an attractive option for many.

Real Time Intelligence
Workspace Monitoring
This was named differently in the blog (Eventhouse Monitoring) and although it was buried in a long part of the video I believe it allows us to monitor activities of reports, semantic models and other Fabric items.? This could be very useful and I need to investigate further!
Data Factory
A number of improvements have been made in Data Factory including new connectors and table and partition refreshes which will be a useful feature for those working on large or complex models.
?
There’s a lot more updates in the blog and video regarding OneLake, Data Warehouse, Data Engineering, Data Science and Real Time Intelligence if those elements are of interest to you.
Cheers,
