Microsoft Fabric August 2023 update

It took until 5th September for this to appear and it does include the Power BI August Update as well.? If you have seen that, just watch the first few minutes of this video, regarding general announcements and core, and then move to 13:55.

In summary there is a lot happening in Fabric and most of it seems to be fixes and enhancements in preparation for general release. Although Data Activator has a section in this update I still don’t see in the South East Asia region and I have no idea when it is arriving.

The one thing that caught my eye (which I will be investigating) is the “Get Metadata activity for Lakehouse and Data Warehouse”?that is available in Data Factory now. Does this mean we can surface metadata from tables and columns and use it downstream in reporting? Will this replace the current Power BI API’s or parts thereof? I hope so but time will tell.
