Microsoft Copilot: Your Ultimate Guide to Graph Grounded-Chat (Business Chat)
Microsoft Graph Grounded-Chat is part of Copilot for Teams and serves as your personal assistant/colleague in your Teams channel. This is arguably the most powerful and more fun of all the Copilots. Graph Grounded-Chat is also why you need to ensure you clean up your tenant and go through a readiness phase before deploying and using Microsoft 365 Copilot. It is through this feature that you can find sensitive documentation that has been improperly shared.
?
I remember the first time I started using this Copilot. There were many rumors, such as this Copilot could access any type of data and read anything. That is not true; this Copilot only has access to what the user has access to. The problem is not Graph Grounded-Chat but that people do not have proper control over their data, and documents have not been secured. This is another topic we will delve into in the future. For now, let's focus on how you can use the functionalities of this Copilot.
Where do you find Graph Grounded-Chat?
First, you need to make sure Copilot in Chat is turned on. You can do this by going to your settings in Teams and turning on “Copilot in Chat.” This should be turned on automatically.
Option 1:
To view Graph Grounded-Chat online, go to Office.com, and the icon will be available on the left. You should find this within a few minutes after you get your Copilot License.
?
Option 2:
You will find Copilot in your chat list. It will be shown first and will be easy for you to find. This function may take some time to activate. Once you get Copilot, it will be shown through Option 1 in just minutes, while Option 2 will take some time (make sure you are on the new Teams; I assume most of you already are).
So what can you do with this Copilot?
We can start by looking at some of the ready-to-use prompts. Here you can select one of the prompts suggested by Copilot.
Let's see some of the ready-to-use prompts:
How to:
Using the “How to” prompt, you can ask about anything. For example, I asked how to write an RFP. This prompt generated the response shown in the picture below. Additionally, it provided a tip to read a LinkedIn Learning course and referenced a relevant documents from my SharePoint.
?
Brainstorm:
Using this prompt, you for example can ask Copilot to suggest 10 compelling titles based on, a Word document, a meeting, a PowerPoint presentation, a OneNote file, etc. I chose to use OneNote, and as you can see, the ideas generated are complex and quite good.
??
Decode acronyms:
This Copilot can also be used for much more. For example, if you have a question, instead of googling it, you might ask Copilot here. For example, what does LLM stand for?

In this area, you can either turn on “Web content,” which kicks in instantly, and everything you ask for can be referenced to anything on the web, or turn on plug-ins for Copilot for Sales, Dynamics, or even go to the more plug-ins section and pick anything available there for you. One useful tip here is to connect Copilot to your other internal applications. This will really take the user experience to the next level and will truly customise Copilot for your organization.

Add more context to your prompt:
Here you will have three options to add anything from people, files, meetings, and emails. You may just type forward slash “/” and pick what you want, or pick one of the finished buttons which will pop up the same options.
