Microsoft Collective Impact Program - East Malaysia

Kuching, 20 May 2023 -?Over the weekend, the Microsoft’s Collective Impact Program was flown to East Malaysia in its journey to impact the communities in Kuching, Sarawak, with digital knowledge and expertise required to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world. Participants and beneficiaries of the program have gone through digital upskilling and career readiness workshops; equipping themselves with industry relevant digital skills to aid in improving and enhancing their livelihood or job searching journey. Some key activities include elevating their Microsoft application proficiency and also preparing themselves for job interviews via mock-interviews with HR experts.

The workshop on 20-21st May attracted job seekers of diverse backgrounds from underprivileged communities ranging from SPM leavers to senior citizens; all of whom had the thirst and passion about upskilling themselves in technology and employability skills to stay relevant in this modern world.

The success of this workshop was made possible with the collaborative effort of PurpleLily, a non-profit organisation committed to improving and empowering the female communities in Kuching, and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) a government-owned company, entrusted to lead the implementation of Sarawak’s digital economy initiatives. SDEC has made it their continuous endeavor to accelerate economic prosperity for all people through digitalisation via digital consultancy, researches, product development and many other efforts to be the key driver for the private sector digital economy.?

With these shared goals in mind among our partners, it gives Microsoft the opportunity to contribute by enabling Skills for Jobs content to enable and enrich the communities in need, adding value to PurpleLily and SDEC to support their ongoing initiative.
