Microsoft Chat Bot: Between Facts and Perceptions

Microsoft Chat Bot: Between Facts and Perceptions

“To do AI right, one needs to iterate with many people and often in public forums. We must enter each one with great caution and ultimately learn and improve, step by step, and to do this without offending people in the process. We will remain steadfast in our efforts to learn from this and other experiences as we work toward contributing to an Internet that represents the best, not the worst, of humanity.” This is a quote from a recent article by Sam Shead in Business Insider.

The failure of Microsoft chat bot proof that human emotion is not easy to understand. Human are inherently racist and always conforming by one-self standard and believe to verify self-righteousness. AI - having designed by human logical and science response system also inherit racism. Tay Microsoft chatbot is not the one to blame because it's just mimicking our thinking pattern - not our feeling pattern.

The next challenge is to really make an artificial intelligence with an emphasis on pretension by adding social culture rules. Are we not ready to let the AI has the mind of it's own? Are we suppose to fear AI? As Brian Fung wrote in Washington Post: Why Microsoft’s racist Twitter bot should make us fear human nature, not A.I.
