Here are some of the key announcements from the Microsoft Build Event:

• Co-pilot PCs: These are new computers that have a special chip specifically designed for running AI tasks. This allows you to use AI features on your computer without needing an internet connection.
• Surface laptops and Surface Pros with npu: Microsoft announced that their new Surface laptops and Surface Pros will have a neural processing unit (npu) which is dedicated to running AI on the computer.
• Recall: This is a new feature in Windows that allows you to see your entire computer history, including everything you've done on your computer. You can opt out of this feature or delete anything from your history.
• Teams: Microsoft announced a new feature for Teams called Teams AI. This is an AI assistant that can be added to conversations, emails, meetings, and chats. It can create tasks, help create checklists, and summarize meetings.
• F3: This is a new large language model created by Microsoft.
• GitHub co-pilot extensions: These are new extensions that allow you to connect your GitHub co-pilot tool with other tools, such as Docker, Sentry, Stripe, and Pine cone.
• Adobe Firefly in Lightroom: This is a new feature that allows you to use Adobe's AI-powered generative remove feature directly inside of Lightroom.

Google's AI Makes Big Mistakes

Google Search is giving out wrong and harmful information in response to user queries.

• Someone asked Google search for "cheese not sticking to Pizza" and Google recommended adding glue to the sauce [1].
• Someone asked Google "how long ago was 1919" and Google said it was 20 years ago [1].
• Google AI recommended smoking cigarettes while pregnant

This is similar to a previous issue where Google Imagine generated images of people of the wrong race.

OpenAI Loses Key Employee Who Raises Safety Concerns

Ilya Sutskever and Jan Leike at OpenAI left the company and said that OpenAI is no longer focused on safety and security.

OpenAI claims they are still committed to safety but admits they have more work to do.

Debate on Safety Concerns in Advanced AI Development

Yan LeCun argues that OpenAI should be more focused on safety concerns around Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

Gary Marcus, another AI researcher, believes we are far from developing AGI and safety is not an immediate concern.
