If you are looking to transition your business to the cloud, your first task will be researching to find the best platform to meet your needs. So, let’s walk through some of the features, uses and pros & cons of Microsoft Azure and study how it actually Works?

Some of the key features of Microsoft Azure are:

  • Microsoft Azure provides you simple, reliable & affordable backups in the cloud and can recover all your data in case of disasters. (server destroyed, stolen)
  • Azure helps to reduce unexpected downtime and near to zero data loss, hence gives you greater peace of mind with ongoing testing and monitoring.
  • You can easily host your app with Microsoft Azure- Fully managed infrastructure Data backed up in a choice of geographies Robust physical security and data protection.
  • Azure provides you with single platform for all of your cloud needs (IaaS and PaaS) and ideal for small businesses & branch offices.

How Does Microsoft Work?

Let us help begin your implementation…

Microsoft Azure is a flexible cloud platform. You may be familiar with the azure services which IT professionals and developers use build, deploy and manage application. Let’s help you to understand as how azure actually works– Azure uses a technology known as Virtualization. Virtualization separates the tech coupling between the computer CPU and its operating system using an abstraction layer called a Hypervisor, the hypervisor emulates all the functions of a real computer and its CPU in a virtual machine. It can run multiple virtual machine at the same time and each virtual machine can run any operating system such as windows.

Azure takes this virtualization technology and repeats it on a massive scale in Microsoft datacentre throughout the world. Each Data centre has many racks fill the servers, each server includes the hypervisor to run multiple virtual machines and network switch provides connectivity to the servers, while the server in each rack runs a special piece of software called Fabric controller.

Orchestrator helps in connecting each fabric controller to another special piece of software. The Orchestrator is responsible for happening everything in the Azure including responding to user request. Users make request using the orchestrator web API, the web API can be called by many tools including the user interface of the azure portal. So that, when you will use or make use in order to request to create a virtual machine, the orchestrator then packages everything necessarily required, pick-up the best server rack and send it back to the package request in the fabric controller.

Pros of Microsoft Azure:

  • High Availability: Microsoft Azure offers a wide area of high availability and redundancy in data centres on a global scale.
  • Security & Scalability: Azure provides you with secure migration to the cloud as they are the top priority, hence offers multi-level protection and user-friendly services for increased protection, such as multi-factor authentication and application password requirements.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Microsoft Azure platform is so attractive to many organizations as integrating new technology is a daunting task, so it’s imperative to keep IT budget in mind when choosing a cloud provider. It’s a ideal cloud as you pay for what you use.

Cons of Microsoft Azure:

  • It’s always affordable to put data into azure but it’s more expensive to take your data out from it as many a times, there are hidden costs with respect to recovering data from the cloud provider and may go beyond expected price and charged a separate fee.
  • Azure requires expertise at your part to ensure everything is moving properly and as efficiently as possible.

How Pricing Works for Microsoft Azure?

Based on two categories namely Standard & Premium:

  • Standard- used by small to medium business workloads. Only supports offline migration.
  • Premium- used by large businesses for managing critical workloads. Supports online, offline and faster migration speeds

Let’s delve into the supportive tools of Azure Database which are recommended for transporting the data:

  • Tools like Azure Migrate and Microsoft Data Migration Assistant help in the migration process.
  • The TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) Calculator is a handy tool which saves from overspending by estimating the amount of savings when moving your workloads to Azure.

Reviews on using Azure Cloud Resources:

As per Gartner report, Microsoft Azure was recognized by Gartner as a leader in Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Cloud Storage Services and Application Platform as a Service (PaaS). It is Highly recommended by IT professionals since they believe that Azure is a handy software and once set up, it hardly takes much time for evolution. Survey says, 80% of reputed 500 companies use Azure services since it provides an array of products and services designed to meet all the needs through one convenient platform.

Wrap up…

To conclude, there’s no doubt as why azure is the cloud service providers of choice for many enterprises and are compelling. A multi-cloud strategy is always an option for your business needs which Azure fulfils at every step.
