What is Cloud Computing ?
Cloud Computing is the term referred to accessing computing services over Internet such as servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics and intelligence. You don't need to buy any of these services, you can rent it as per your business needs. It means you don’t have to store the data on your personal system, it is available at remote places and accessible through web. Example of Cloud computing platforms are Azure, AWS, GCP etc.
Types of Cloud Computing:
- Public Cloud: It is the most common type of Cloud where the services are provided by the third party. Many users can access the hardware and software at the same time. You can access it from anywhere with no or less restrictions. The most common examples are Web based emails.
- Private Cloud: It is the type of cloud owned by individual customers. It is not shared by other organizations, It is dedicated to needs and goals of a single organization. Examples are VMWare.
- Hybrid Cloud: It is the type of Cloud which combines the on-premises and private cloud with the public cloud. It orchestrates data and services between two platforms. It is used to achieve global availability, reliability and cost effective services.
Advantages of Cloud Computing:
- Flexibility: You can access it from any device over Internet. It is possible to expand it in few clicks. Cloud offers more flexible environment online and offline.
- Availability: Your data can be available anywhere and anytime across the globe.
- Scalability: You don't need to focus on storing the huge amount of data, you can scale it on demand.
- Security: You can control who and how your data can be accessible.
- Disaster Recovery: You can replicate the data at many location. In case of failure, your data can be recovered fully.
- Cost Effective: You can avail the benefits of working on huge platform without spending money on buying all of the infrastructure.
What is Microsoft Azure?
Formerly called as Windows Azure, later renamed as Microsoft Azure. It is a Microsoft Cloud Computing platform to build, run, deploy and manage your applications using Microsoft managed data centers. It supports many programming languages. It offers three options :
- IAAS: This Azure layer provides you cloud computing infrastructures such as Azure Servers and Virtual Machines.
- PAAS: This Azure layer provides you a platform to develop and run your cloud services such as Databases, Azure Functions.
- SAAS: This Azure layer provides you a platform to deploy your applications over Internet so that end user can access it.
