Microsoft 365 Setup

Microsoft 365 Setup

To create an M365 Business account:

1. Head to the Microsoft 365 website [office.com] and click “Get Microsoft 365”.

2. We would be creating a business account, so you'll click on business:

3. Now we have to choose the subscription that fits our organization needs.

Before you purchase a subscription, you need to understand the services that each of the subscription gives. This will enable you not to spend wrongly.

E.g.; If you have a small org and you just want your workers to have Office application excluding Outlook and Teams, You can get the Apps for business Subscription. If you need the outlook and teams feature, you can get either the business basic, standard or premium. N/B; Business Basic gives you only web access to M365 applications, whilst Business standard and premium gives you access to both web and desktop applications.

4. After you must have paid for the subscription that suits your org needs, you now have access to the Admin portal.

The Admin Center is where you manage all your Microsoft 365 Business services. It’s your control center, where you can:

- Set up and manage users.

- Configure security settings.

- Add apps and services, like OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams.

- Monitor usage and activity.

- Adjust settings for services like SharePoint and Exchange.

The Admin Center is your hub for managing all your M365 services. Think of it like the cockpit of your Microsoft-powered?plane.???

That’s it! You’re ready to start using Microsoft?365?Business.

In our next session, there would be a detailed explanation on things you can achieve in the admin center.

For now, you need to know that you can do the following in the admin portal:

- Password policies: Set password complexity requirements and expiration rules to enhance security.

- Mobile device management policies: Define security requirements for company devices, like minimum password strength and encryption settings.

- Information protection policies: Set rules for managing and protecting your company’s sensitive data, like encryption or access restrictions.

- Spam filtering policies: Configure rules for filtering out unwanted emails from reaching your users’ inboxes.

- DLP policies: Create custom rules to detect and block sensitive information from being shared outside of?your?company.
