On certainty

On certainty

Last weekend Trish and I had lunch at the Chinatown Noodle Restaurant. It’s been there since 1991 according to the sign … I reckon if you’ve been selling noodles in Chinatown for over 30 years, you’re doing something right. That I was the only non-Asian in the restaurant was also a good sign.

I opted for the hot and sour soup with dumplings (an excellent choice).

Waitress: Which type of dumplings would you like?

Me: Can I have two types?

Waitress: No. Just one.

Me: What’s better, the braised eggplant, or the pork and chives?

Waitress: (With no hesitation and complete conviction) The pork and chives.

Me: Done.

Such a good example of selling with conviction. Really clear on how it works. No apology, no let me check

with the kitchen, just one type of dumpling in the soup. And this one is the best.

People buy your certainty as much as your thing.
