Dear readers,
at the end of September, the conference to present the results of ?LIFE Blue Lakes“, an Italian-German project funded by the European Commission, took place in Rome. The aim of the project is to prevent and reduce microplastics in lakes. Although microplastics are everywhere, but it is very difficult to quantify the presence of this emerging pollutant, generated by human activities and impossible to remove completely.
Launched in 2019 thanks to co-funding from the European Commission‘s LIFE programme, the project was born out of the awareness that most research has been focusing for several years on the impacts of plastics in marine ecosystems, overshadowing the role of freshwaters, in particular lakes that are important hydropotable reservoirs but also major receptors of microplastics and pollutants in general. Lehvoss Expands Capacity in China
Only 8 years after its opening, LEHVOSS Compounds Chinese compound plant in Kunshan is already too small again. The plastics manufacturer has therefore built a new production facility at the site. This has now been inaugurated. Read more
Ultrasonic Welding of Bio-Based Products
At Fakuma 2023, RINCO ULTRASONICS will present its solutions for joining and separating plastics. Among other things, the Electrical Motion ultrasonic welding machine will be on display, which now has a software upgrade and additional functions. Read more
EU Bans Microplastics in Numerous Products
Many products contain microscopic plastic particles. A new EU regulation now forbids the targeted addition of plastic particles. For some products, such as glitter and microbeads, the ban will already apply in October. Read more
