Although scooters are not yet legal on public roads, Ireland is a growing,?dynamic market for shared micromobility operators. Joining?existing local operators (Bleeper, MOBY,?Zipp),?Bolt?launched its first, 200-strong electric bike?service in Sligo, while?TIER?secured a contract with Fingal to operate 400 bikes. Voi also struck a?deal?with Dublin Bus to provide bikes to employees.?

We sat down with Dublin City Council - ahead of their inclusion as one of the new cities in?the latest European Shared Mobility Index?- who hinted that a scooter tender will land in 2023. We also covered bikes, cars and public policy.?Access the full interview with Dublin City Council here.

?? Lime's super powers

Lime unveiled a new battery model for its Gen4 bike and scooter models. This?new 1kWh Li-Ion battery?will more than double the range of Lime's electric vehicles, and is also compatible with Citra, the brand's new light electric moped.

Lime's first battery?charge & swap station?has been spotted for the first time in Tel Aviv, showing that the company is working on transferring some of the costs of battery swap to the riders, following TIER's Energy Network example.

The combination of these two stories?indicate a new strategy?to improve?battery charging management, which remains one of the most challenging topics for operators. (Coincidence or not, we'll cover batteries and charging in our next blog post...?stay tuned for that!)
