Have you ever noticed:

  • They always appear as perfect discs, no matter Mickey's camera angle

It's not a fluke, rather a design choice backed up by focus group testing.

Does any other character - animated or live-action - have such an unrealistic rule placed on their appearance?

It's a bold branding choice.

And since I'm not from a world where the alternative is familiar, I must say that seeing the alternative is jarring - that is, Mickey's ears abiding by the rules of reality.

You probably never thought about it.

Until now.

Perhaps it's all you'll see when you next gaze upon Mickey.

Sorry if that's the case.
