1) Invest360: Friday, September 15

Glistening greens at the University of Michigan Golf Course clubhouse witnessed startups vying for a portion of $200K, courtesy of Invest Detroit .

• JustAir Solutions soared with its quest for bringing greater visibility to the air we breathe in our communities. They received the Information Technology award ($50K) and won the People ($50K for the People's Choice award) to amplify their mission. Darren Riley delivered an excellent pitch for JustAir Solutions.
• Repela Tech received the Mobility Award from Invest360. Environmental stewardship is at the heart of their work, and this recognition reinforces their commitment to delivering our eco-friendly marine coating innovation to the market. Congratulations, Sheu-Jane Gallagher and team Repela.
• CURIO Genomics took home the Life Science award. They accelerate the impact of crop genomics research by combining analytical processing and data visualization tools into a common toolset for researchers. • Keynote speaker Dan Rhodes , co-founder and CEO of Strata Oncology, raised over $100M to transform cancer treatment with advanced molecular diagnostics. Dan was awarded Earnest & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Dan shared his journey as an entrepreneur in life sciences and lessons learned from Compendia Bioscience (acquired by Thermo Fisher) and Strata Oncology. A few lessons that stood out:
• Keeping your startup within the university is a great way to make progress
• Solve big problems
• Assemble the best possible founding team
• Industry partners and customers provide credibility early on
• Get in the game; that's the only way to see the opportunities
• Block time for mission/vision/investors/customers & planning

2) Women in Tech: - Monday, September 18

A sold-out event at the Venue by 4M painted the evening with tales of tenacity. With support from Comcast RISE, DaySmart , and Michigan Innovation Headquarters , the panel discussion resonated and inspired us. This will have its upcoming newsletter (Stay tuned!).

Trista V. is the co-founder and executive director of the Michigan Founders Fund .

• Support networks: Network while keeping in mind what's next for you. Carve time for what's next. Meet with people ahead of you and create a community around that. Create a small circle you can reach out to for advice and support.

3) Tech Talk: - Tuesday, September 19

The majestic Michigan Theater echoed with narratives of challenges and triumphs from speakers:

• Keynote speaker Dug Song inspired the audience around the importance of supporting and investing in growth companies in Michigan to create jobs. What's needed to keep high-growth companies in Michigan and shared the vision and mission of the Michigan Founders Fund
• Connie Chang , COO of ONL Therapeutics , talked about shattering the bamboo ceiling.
• Julie Cruz of Julie Cruz Studio shared her personal growth through her entrepreneurial journey.
• Marvin D. Yates, Sr Sr shared his unique journey in tech as a first in many situations' to becoming a stalwart of the National Security Innovation Network.
