Michiel Hollander's Run for Roparun

Project Manager Michiel Hollander participated in his eleventh Roparun this year, running 550km (342 mi) to raise the highest possible donation for palliative cancer care.?

The Stichting Roparun is a relay race from Paris, France, and Airport Twente in Holland to Rotterdam. Eight runners run the distance, supported by a team of bikers, drivers, cooks, and other volunteers. Each year, around 220 teams compete, raising money for the cause. Their mission, translated to English, is “Adding life to the days, where often no more days can be added to life.”?

This year, with the help of ECI’s One-to-One Community Give Back Program, Michiel hopes to beat last year's donations of four million Euros!?

In an email describing the race, Michiel writes, “As a team, we not only try to raise money but also seek connection with the supported cause. We visit a hospice, a walk-in centre for cancer patients, or an oncology department of the hospital. Seeing and listening to the beautiful care and attention that is given to cancer patients and their loved ones. We think it’s important to show what beautiful things are made possible from the money people donate to our team.”?

To close out, Michiel explains, “Running the Roparun means not running for myself, but running for others.” The selflessness Michiel continues to show year after year for this organization is a true testimony to his dedication to the cause.
