#miart2024 – Emergent section
Now internationally recognised for its focus on experimental practices and promotion of the contemporary scene, miart’s renowned Emergent?section returns for its 7th?run at the 28thedition of miart - the international modern and contemporary art fair, organised by Fiera Milano SpA and set to run from 12 to 14 April 2024, with a VIP preview on 11 April.
Curated by Attilia Fattori Franchini ,?Emergent?is dedicated to newer talents, and the relevance it offers to up-and-coming artists and galleries makes it ever more of a?research laboratory?year after year.
This year’s section will present?23 galleries across 22 booths,?strategically positioned at the fair’s entrance,?at the beginning?of the exhibition route to give?more prominence to?the coming generation. Continuing the trend of the past two years,?Emergent?features many cases of international participation, with?15 of 23 galleries?coming from abroad.?There are 12 new entries?but no shortage of returning exhibitors and a selection of names that will move on to the?Established?section.
Aware of the fundamental role that fairs play in launching new talents,?Attilia Fattori Franchini?asked galleries to present either?solo, two artists in dialogue or research projects, in a bid to offer the viewer a more ambitious section with projects designed specifically for miart.
?There is great support for more demanding practices like installation, video and performance this year, alongside photography and sculpture, with a robust return of figurative and abstract painting, in keeping with contemporary international trends.?
