Miami Empresarial Magazine at Latin Builders luncheon with Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho

Miami Empresarial Magazine was present at a recent LBA luncheon in which the association recognized Alberto Carvalho, Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. 

Mr. Carvalho, who leads the nation's fourth largest public school system, spoke passionately about MDCPS achievements —in building new schools on time and under budget, expanding the schools' curricula, raising graduation levels, improving SAT performance, increasing college registration, and delivering better prepared students to higher education institutions and to the South Florida community.

The Superintendent also shared his concern and frustration with the escalating levels crime and violence affecting disadvantaged neighborhoods, that continue to claim bright, young lives with great potential. He also expressed his exasperation with this year's state budget which, if approved, will grant a paltry 50-cent annual increase per student. After the event, members of the executive committee of the MagicWaste Foundation gathered at the Biltmore’s Cellar Club Bar to plan future activities and for another opportunity to mingle with friends and LBA members.
