Miami Beach Winter Playground or All Year-Round?

Miami Beach Winter Playground or All Year-Round?

Glamor and Opulence

Over the years, Miami Beach has faced its share of ups and downs at various times in the city's nearly 109-year history but greater Miami and Miami Beach consistently rank in the top

10 U.S. destinations in terms of hotel occupancy. They rank among the top three during the winter months.

About half of the estimated eight million visitors who come to Miami Beach each year are repeat visitors, meaning they liked it enough to return though there appear to be generational differences among them. The total number of visitors does not reflect people who live close by and come for the day. There's also no way of breaking out the number of people who stay in Miami Beach before or after boarding a cruise at PortMiami.

Number 1 Indicator

Last year, the city collected $113.8 million in resort taxes from more than 4,000 businesses,

th

which represents an increase of $25.3 million over

2019. Resort tax funds are restricted in their use and must be used for the promotion of tourism and other expenses that can be tied to impacts from related activities.

Diverse Experiences

The diversity of Miami Beach visitors - by age, ethnicity, country of origin, hometown or income level - has led to many more options for visitor experiences, from the hotels where travelers sleep to the restaurants where they dine.

Miami Beach now has three Michelin-starred restaurants within city limits - Stubborn Seed, The Den at Azabu Miami Beach and Tambourine Room by Tristan Brandt. In addition, there is a recently-opened Miami Beach location of a Michelin-starred restaurant in Miami. More Michelin-starred restaurants are a short drive away in nearby Miami and Surfside.

Focus on

Entertainment

The Faena Hotel, located a few miles south of the Carillon in the Mid Beach neighborhood, is one of the few Miami Beach properties with a theater for live performances.

The Faena Theater features original productions of contemporary dance, live music, sensual vignettes, stunning visuals, cirque nouveau, aerialist choreography and immersive experiences behind the theater's signature red velvet curtains.

Accepting Environment

Hoteliers Alex Guerra and Stephan Ginez will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their H?tel Gaythering next month in South Beach.

With a focus on serving the LGBTQIA+ community, Guerra said he and his partner have created a welcoming environment in a welcoming city.
