Job Description

?We are seeking a part-time or full-time Senior Clastic Sedimentologist to join our team in Perth, WA. Your role will involve generating, compiling, and interpreting geological data to achieve project success, either as standalone projects or?within a multidisciplinary effort. We are seeking a self-motivated individual at home in a small team environment, with a questioning mindset and a willingness to challenge traditional approaches.?

?While you will be based at our Perth office, you will maintain a dynamic relationship with our Senior Sedimentologist in Brisbane, and work with teams at all other sites. Despite the geographical distances, we foster a culture of open communication and collaboration between our teams. For some projects, interstate or international travel may be required.?

Key Responsibilities

?Conduct core description at various scales, facies analysis, grain size analysis, depositional modelling, and other sedimentological tasks.

• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting, integrating data from related geological disciplines like palynology, geochemistry, and seismic interpretation to support a comprehensive geological understanding.
• Initiating and nurturing client relationships.??
• Actively engage in client and internal meetings, presenting at workshops and conferences, and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Proactively identifying and scoping out new project opportunities.
• Leading projects from inception through to completion, meeting deadlines and client expectations.
• Uphold MGPalaeo’s standard of technical excellence through internal reviews and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications and Experience

?A solid background in Clastic Sedimentology with over 10 years of experience in a commercial and/or academic setting.

• Highly experienced in clastic core description.
• High proficiency in WellCAD.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively and adhere to deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a history of positive client interactions.
• An adaptable learner with a keen interest in continuous professional development and the utilization of new technologies to improve workflows.
• An ability to work within a small team environment and be self-motivated.
