MFA, what does it means?

In a world where digital threats lurk around every corner, organizations have begun to rely on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as a crucial line of defense. Imagine me, an employee at a financial firm, logging in to access sensitive client data. In the past, a password alone was enough to gain entry, but with cyber threats on the rise, my company decided to add an extra layer of security. Now, whenever I log in, I first enters my password. Immediately, I receive a code on my phone, which I must input to complete the login. This two-step process, combining something I know (my password) and something I have (my phone), makes unauthorized access exponentially more difficult.

By incorporating MFA, my company protects not only my account but also the sensitive information of hundreds of our clients. As more organizations embrace MFA, we reduce the risk of data breaches, ensuring only verified users gain access to critical systems.

Appreciation to Dr Iretioluwa Akerele of Cybarik for leading the cybersecurity awareness month.
