The Metropolitan Business League Names 2024 Remarkable Woman of The Year

Founder of Camp Diva Leadership Academy and CEO of Girls For A Change Honored

Richmond, VA- The Metropolitan Business League (MBL) is proud to announce Angela Patton , CEO of Girls For A Change and Founder of Camp Diva Leadership Academy, as the recipient of the 2024 Remarkable Woman of the Year Award. The award was presented during the 14th Annual Women Who Mean Business Summit.

Each year, the MBL honors a woman who exemplifies leadership, resilience, and influence, embodying the core values that define the Metropolitan Business League. Angela Patton is being celebrated for her ?transformative work with Girls For A Change, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prepare black girls for the world and the world for black girls. Based in Richmond, Virginia, Angela has been fighting for systemic and cultural change on a national scale for 25 years.

“Angela Patton is the epitome of what it means to be a remarkable woman and leader,” said Nickkol Lewis, Chairperson of the MBL Board. “Her dedication to uplifting and empowering young girls aligns with the values of the MBL, and we are thrilled to honor her with this prestigious award.”

Patton has been lauded for her leadership and fearless approaches to advancing Black girls. Her TED talk?has been viewed over one million times, and her co-authored book,?Finding Her Voice, has helped thousands of Black girls navigate and thrive in diverse environments. Most recently, the documentary she co-directed, Daughters, premiered and won the Festival Favorite and Audience Favorite: U.S. Documentary awards at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024 and is now available on Netflix. ?

The Remarkable Woman of the Year Award is a testament to the work of women who not only lead but inspire others to rise. Angela Patton’s contributions continue to make a tremendous difference in our community, and the MBL is honored to recognize her outstanding achievements.
