Digital nomad visas, explained
Searches for "digital nomad visas" are up?1,135% ??
Tell me more More and more countries are offering digital nomad visas. What this means is that employees that are able to work remotely can keep their current job while moving to a different country. This initiative first popped up around 4 years ago, deep in pandemic times, but with remote and flexible working sticking around, it's more popular than ever.
Can I do it? If you can work from anywhere with decent WiFi, this is probably an option for you! Of course you'd need permission from your employer, the money to pay for the visa, and sometimes a minimum salary requirement. The visas tend to last between 6 months and 3 years, but often can be renewed. Ready to head to the airport? Pick your destination here.
Climate emissions are not contributed equally
New research shows the worst transport polluters based on?income, gender, location, ethnicity and age.
What does it say? We know that the rich are way bigger polluters than poorer folk. This research narrows it down even more, pinpointing wealthy white men living in rural areas as the biggest climate culprits. These are the key stats -?
???The richest 0.1% in Britain emit 12?times more than the average earner
?? Men are responsible for significantly more transport emissions that women ?? Flying emissions peak between the ages 25-35
?? Residents in rural areas emit more than urban residents due to increased driving
?? White people emit more through flights and private transport
Why does this matter? In the UK, transport is now the largest source of emissions. We are not all contributing as much to climate change, but we will all pay the price. This research points to the urgent need for new taxes on private jets, the transition to electric-powered vehicles, and improved public transport.

What's happening? Cannes Film Festival took place this month and was the setting for a #MeToo reckoning in the film industry.?
The film festival was backdropped by news of?France's most famous actor Gérard Depardieu standing trial this autumn for?alleged sexual assault. Moreover, on the first day, nine women?publicly accused?veteran French producer Alain Sarde of abuse, allegations he denies.
Judith Godrèche Godrèche was just 14 when she became a film star. All eyes were on her, but no one thought it strange that she appeared to be in a relationship with a then middle-aged filmmaker,?Beno?t Jacquot. It was only decades later, when?Godrèche became a mother that she realised she was taken advantage of, unable to give consent at such an age, and publicly accused Jacquot.
From this experience, she produced her short film Moi Aussi or "Me Too" which premiered at Cannes this year, featuring 1,000 survivors of sexual abuse. It appeared among other female-centred stories of abuse such as, The Balconettes, which follows three female flatmates who face up to their abusers in a gory comedy.?
