Nvidia is best positioned at the intersection of AI and the Metaverse in the 2020s.
This is the third article in a series on?Metaverse stocks?and investment opportunities related to the Metaverse sector of the future.
Few companies are as well positioned at the intersection of Artificial intelligence and the metaverse uniquely as?Nvidia.
Nvidia has become a major NASDAQ stock in recent years, at 8th spot and approaching a market cap of $300 Billion. In a significant (major) correction, this is a name you might want to buy on the dip.
Just as “modding” has changed the future of gaming whereby users can augment the base design of PC games, how the metaverse evolves might have a significant decentralized component.
The Omniverse
Nvidia’s platform for allowing creators, designers and engineers to collaboratively build virtual worlds is called Omniverse. It has a chance of becoming one of the dominant platforms for entry and maturation of the Metaverse.
A modular Metaverse means a natural selection of consumers and developers creates the Metaverse and no one company should be allowed to dominate it or be the gate-keeper (such as Meta-Facebook). However it’s really key to understand Nvidia’s approach with Omniverse. This is how Nvidia itself describes it:
A Modular Development framework for the Metaverse
NVIDIA Omniverse is built from the ground up to be easily extensible and customizable with a?modular development framework. While end-users and content creators leverage the Omniverse platform to connect and accelerate their 3D workflows, developers can plug into the platform layer of the Omniverse stack to easily build new tools and services.

Omniverse?consists of 5 key parts:?Nucleus, Connect, Kit, Simulation, and RTX Renderer. These components, along with interoperable third-party digital content creation (DCC) tools and renderers - and third-party and NVIDIA-built extensions, apps, and microservices make up the full Omniverse ecosystem. You can find more info on its?website .
Omniverse as a Metaverse Modular Platform
Nvidia announced on January 4th, 2022 that its a free version of its Omniverse is available to millions of NVIDIA Studio creators using GeForce RTX and NVIDIA RTX graphics processing units (GPUs).
Omniverse I think could be one of the winners in the Metaverse. Think about Nvidia’s ambition here. Independent or enterprise developers can easily build and sell their own?Extensions ,?Apps ,?Connectors ,?and?Microservices ?on the Omniverse platform with the wealth of available tools and samples.
Besides Meta it will be interesting to see how other BigTech companies approach Metaverse innovation and trying to build a platform for both developers, creators and consumers.
NVIDIA Omniverse? is an easily extensible, open platform built for virtual collaboration and real-time physically accurate simulation. I like their chances and this further diversifies their growing business model.
Nvidia’s stock was just $51 back on March 20th, 2020. It peaked at $333 at the end of November, 2021.
