The Metaverse will be Nothing without Interoperable 3D NFTs

Visions of the metaverse have spread far and wide on the Internet for years, now accelerating in recent months. Blue sky ideas of how communication, connection, and the human experience will change, for better or worse, come out daily. But what often gets left out of these stories is the need for people to actually build this future.

In order for Meta to achieve the metaverse domination they envision, they need to hire 10,000 3D designers. And we’re not sure that they’ll even be able to fill half these roles because this skill set is not easily attainable.

Not to mention, 3D designers are being pulled in all directions right now. Between the numerous metaverse platforms that need 3D designers, the lucrative NFT opportunity to create your own art, and the already existing industry for motion graphics in advertising and gaming, 3D designers are being demanded seemingly everywhere.

You’ve likely heard a lot of talk about “the open metaverse” – which is a vision most metaverse proponents discuss where all metaverses are interoperable with one another. The problem is that this just isn’t true at the moment. They’re all closed gardens whose 3D designs do not port easily to other environments.

A company called MetaMundo has taken it upon themselves to solve this problem of Metaverse Interoperability. On February 22nd, they’re launching their marketplace for 3D NFTs. What is so unique about their offering, though, is that all of the NFTs on their platform will be metaverse agnostic. They’ve created some tech that allows creators to upload their 3D designs and MetaMundo will generate the asset in the half dozen or so different file types recognized in Decentraland, CryptoVoxels, The Sandbox, etc.

Like many others on NFTwitter, I’ve been excited for MetaMundo to launch for months now, which is why I was so pleased to get their founder, Mark Studholme, onto this week’s NFT QT Show.
