As many people have pointed out, we are likely not headed in the direction of a “Ready Player One” catch all, monopolistic metaverse, but a constellation of metaverses.?
But how does one “port” their avatar from one metaverse to another? If people have to create a new avatar every time they want to “log into” a new metaverse, it will be a painful experience. Nowadays, more and more people use the “connect with Google” or “connect with Facebook” feature when subscribing to a new service, as opposed to having to manually create a new account by entering their email, some personal information and create a password.?
In just the same manner, logging into another metaverse should be just as quick and easy. But rather than using centralized tech giants like Google as a tool for easy connection, I would much prefer the use of more “neutral” tools such as Vitalk Buterin’s “soul-bound token” on the Ethereum blockchain.
How would this work? Anyone could log into a new metaverse by linking it to its soul-bound token. But what about creating your avatar “digital twin”? If one has to spend thirty minutes generating a new avatar every time they subscribe to a new metaverse, that would be like having to fill out a huge form every time you visit a website. That’s a no go.
The answer lies in artificial intelligence and tools that are capable of transforming a picture to any number of digital formats. All someone would have to do, is to store a high fidelity digital twin of themselves on their soul-bound token account, and let an AI generate an avatar based on that model, adapted to the graphics and design of the metaverse being visited.?

Such technologies already exist. See the Volograms app and project, which can quickly generate a high fidelity 3D model/avatar of yourself using a smartphone's camera.
There are also a plethora of tools that are capable of creating an Anime version of yourself using a picture. In the future, an AI could thus convert your 3D high fidelity digital self into a version compatible with the metaverse you’re visiting. Going into a MineCraft like environment? As you log in, the AI of the MineCraft metaverse converts your avatar into a block pixel-art version of your high-fidelity digital twin. Want to change your style? Update your high fidelity avatar and it will instantly propagate to all the other versions of yourself accordingly.?
Obviously, people would still be able to access “custom” features if they like, bypassing such a “universal converter” system by creating custom avatars for each metaverse. But for a regular user, in order to create a seamless experience, navigating from one metaverse to another, such a solution would be highly advisable.?
