Meta's Threads API is almost ready!
A weekly newsletter about all things social media by Nuelink
Welcome to our weekly news recap! This week, major developments from Meta-owned platforms and other key players are reshaping the social media space. Let’s dive in:?
?? Threads Open Doors to Developers: Meta's Threads, the Twitter-like app, has announced plans to make its API widely available to developers by June. This move will empower developers, us included, to integrate innovative features, with live testing already underway, including the much-requested post-scheduling functionality.
?? Threads Enhancements and New Features: Threads is also introducing features aimed at streamlining user experience. Users can now save drafts and capture photos within the app. Additionally, the ability to edit direct messages within 15 minutes and pinning important chats at the top of the inbox are being rolled out.
?? Meta's Outage Woes: Meta faced service disruptions across its top social apps, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Users encountered error messages and login issues, highlighting the occasional vulnerabilities of even the most prominent social media platforms.
?? Privacy Concerns with X's Calling Feature: With X expanding its voice and video call options, privacy concerns arise as each user's IP address is revealed during calls. Advocates worry about potential safety risks for vulnerable users and political activists, raising questions about user awareness and security.
?? TikTok's Creator Fund Success: TikTok reports a remarkable 250% increase in total creator revenue within the last six months through its revamped creator fund. The fund, set to exit beta soon, has proven to be a lucrative avenue for creators.?
?? Potential Threats to TikTok: Despite previous considerations of the app's safety, new regulatory actions propose the removal of TikTok from the U.S., citing national security concerns related to its Chinese ownership.?
?? Google's Algorithmic Overhaul: Google announces a "core update" to its algorithms, targeting spam and low-quality results. The revamped spam policy aims to combat algorithmically generated spam.
