[META]?Meta's new AI could tear down the language barrier once and for all: No Language Left Behind (NLLB) is a first-of-its-kind, AI breakthrough project that open-sources models capable of delivering evaluated, high-quality translations directly between 200 languages—including low-resource languages

[Futurism]?AI Referee Will Track Players' Individual Limbs At World Cup The assistive technology takes into consideration a dizzying array of data points. A dozen strategically-placed, AI-connected cameras continuously collect data from 29 specific points on players' bodies, while a sensor, which sits at the center of the ball, relays its exact location approximately 500 times per second.

[MIT]?These simple changes can make AI research much more energy efficient: Tweaking the settings of the cloud service an algorithm runs on can have a big impact, researchers found. But not many people bother to do it.

[Guardian]?Should we worry about sentient AI? We have a terrible record of inventing reasons to ignore the suffering of those whose oppression sustains our lifestyles. I especially like the article on the ways to avoid AI bias, with the focus on established responsible AI governance frameworks. When training people to work with AI based tools we should make sure that they develop all the skills/competences that are postulated in these frameworks (e.g equalAI framework).
