What Is Metabolic Adaptation??

Metabolic adaptation is a key process understand to NOT ONLY successfully lose weight…but more importantly…KEEP IT OFF!!

Many individuals that attempt to lose weight are successful in some capacity….

However, a vast majority of dieters actually end up regaining weight. Sometimes ending heavier than they originally started!!

So let’s first discuss how you lose weight…

In order to lose weight, YOU MUST be in a caloric deficit, there’s no way around it, and this simply means that you need to burn more calories than you consume.

So Chris where does metabolic adaptation come into this…

So…as we begin to lose weight the calories expend known as total daily energy expenditure can decrease significantly (TDEE)

This decrease in TDEE occur as a biological response to reach a homeostatic set point where your bodyweight and your caloric intake match your daily energy expenditure.

This phenomenon is known as METABOLIC ADAPTATION

Researchers have demonstrated that resting energy expenditure can decrease as much as 20% in obese adults who undergo weight loss.
