Meta Verification Just Got Pricier

Meta Verification Just Got Pricier

Your Weekly Short-Form Video Secrets: Meta’s rolling out pricey changes for businesses, plus how one camera trick has the internet licking their lips.

Meta Wants You to Shell Out– Er, “Stand Out”

Meta has released new ‘tiered subscription packages’ to help businesses establish credibility, boost profile views, and provide advanced customer support options. But it honestly feels a bit like a cash grab and entrepreneurs are pissed.?

The new plans go beyond just paying for a verification badge and support. Depending on if you’re willing to pay $44.99, $119.99, or $349.99 a month ($499 if you want both Facebook and Instagram), you get access to additional features… like being able to add a certain number of links to your Reels, new messaging capabilities and ability to request calls from Meta support. For this price we think it should also come with some stock.

What does this mean for you??

In effect, Meta is starting to do what other subscription services are doing- seeing the need and finding a way to monetize it. There really isn’t another medium where businesses can ‘advertise’ their content or services for free to their audience. But the problem is we’ve now grown accustomed to believing we should.?

TBD if this is going to translate into more views and sales. There’s a few questionable features like receiving more ‘featured post’ access, that make it sound like you pay for reach now. For businesses who can swing the monthly fee, this may provide them some additional peace of mind that they will have access to a representative should they need it. But it’s leaving other personal brands wondering how much harder they’ll have to work for the views.?

It’s also not lost on us that this announcement to force businesses to pay more comes shortly on the heels of the TikTok legislation being passed on Capitol Hill. Making us wonder if they’re banking (quite literally) on the demise of TikTok already. (You know, kind of like Congressman McCaul supposedly did after writing the TikTok ban?)?

We don’t fully know what this means as far as fair play for organic reach and businesses. But we don’t think short-form video is going away, even if the rules of the game are shifting.?

What’s Trending

With over 44 million views, viewers are loving watching this lips-to-eye camera trick and learning how to do it.?

The video starts off with a couple of interesting visuals. We have twins (not often seen) sitting and watching a video. We then get a flashforward of the camera trick, showing you the payoff. It then backs into a tutorial of how to do this yourself.?

Once again, not a word is spoken. They just use visual cues to show you how to achieve a similar result.?

Your takeaway:?

What flashforward can you show in your content to grab attention and get buy-in? What process can you give people insight to without actually having to speak? How can you communicate that visually??

PS- We’re getting ready to turn our live ?-day virtual bootcamps into an on-demand course. If you wanted to receive live 1:1 coaching as part of our training, we’re down to our final bootcamp dates… so book your seat NOW!?

You can even use the code DEFLATE to get 20% off the standard ticket price.?

Happy posting!?
