Meta Simplifies Targeting Settings: Detailed Exclusions Removed
The main changes will take effect by April 21, 2025.
What’s Changing?
? Detailed exclusions will be removed. For example, excluding audiences based on interests through Detailed Targeting will no longer be possible.
? Employer exclusions will remain available. This option will still be accessible at the account level.
? Custom Audiences can no longer be added as exclusions through the primary section but will still be available via the excluded_custom_audiences field.
Meta’s Testing Results:
? The average cost per conversion decreased by 22.6% in campaigns without detailed exclusions.
? Current campaigns with exclusions will continue running until edited.
For Developers:
? The deadline to implement these changes is April 21, 2025.
? API Updates: Changes will impact ad set creation, duplication, reach estimation, and other key processes social media.
