Messaging vs positioning—what’s the difference?

Messaging and positioning are critical for your marketing and sales. However, for lots of small businesses, especially coaches and consultants, understanding what they are at a high level is very different than using them—and turning them into sales.?

In a nutshell, messaging is how you talk about what you do and how you solve your clients’ problems. Your positioning focuses on how your products and services set you apart.

Because messaging and positioning are so closely related, I wrote about the nuances between them in A Masterclass in Messaging & Positioning for Coaches & Consultants . In addition to showing you how to use them to grow your sales, I’m sharing how to recognize the signs and symptoms you have a disconnect, including what to do when:

  • People know what you do but aren’t buying.
  • You have sales calls with the wrong people.?
  • You’re not getting high-quality referrals.
  • People aren’t opening or clicking on your emails.?
  • You receive refund requests, chargebacks, or bad reviews.

If any of these areas are problems you face or you know you need help fixing, head on over to A Masterclass in Messaging & Positioning for Coaches & Consultants for the full article. And stay tuned to our podcast where we’ll be going into more detail in an upcoming episode.

In the meantime, if you know you need help with your messaging and positioning, we’d love to help. Set up a call with Amy to learn what that can look like.
