A message to our team.

The following is a message I shared with H&R Block associates this morning following the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Our focus on inclusion will not waiver, and this includes ensuring all associates have access to healthcare regardless of where they live.

Dear Team –

Over the last several years, we’ve worked very hard to become a more inclusive Company. One where all people feel safe and a deep sense of belonging. Given this commitment and our progress, it may come as no surprise that Friday’s Supreme Court decision which overturned Roe v. Wade gave me pause and I have spent time over the weekend reflecting, discussing with several individuals, and consulting with our healthcare provider about what actions we would take.

This is a matter of women’s health, and given the robust healthcare benefits we offer, we have a role to play. Caring for all associates regardless of where they live is our top priority. As you know, we have continued to evolve our benefits each year to ensure we’re providing relevant and competitive offerings – benefits that ensure you have equitable access to healthcare and the benefits you and your family need. This currently includes covering travel for certain conditions that require access to a center of excellence. Today, we’re expanding this coverage to include travel and related expenses for reproductive healthcare that cannot be accessed locally. This benefit will be available beginning July 1 and we will share more information about this on DNA soon.

While the topic of reproductive rights and healthcare is polarizing, one thing I know we all agree on is we are Better Together. This is another historic moment when we can come together as a community and commit to discussing this topic in the workplace with understanding as we respect each other’s differing opinions and beliefs like we have many times recently.

I am guided each and every day by doing what is right for all of you. This moment is no exception. We will continue to be a company that stands for justice, inclusion, and the well-being of all associates.
