A message to our supporters
Phil Alexander
CEO at Cancer Fund for Children "No child should face cancer alone". Developing support services for children and families on an All-Island basis.
With Coronavirus having a major impact on all our lives I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and let you know how we are continuing to deliver services to children and young people affected by cancer across Northern Ireland.
Cancer, and how it affects children and their families, will not stop during this unprecedented crisis and I want to reassure you that Cancer Fund for Children is here for families during the worst, as well as the best of times.
The children and young people we support are particularly vulnerable and therefore we have made the decision to change our working practices to ensure at-risk families are kept safe.
Over the next few months and beyond cancer will continue to devastate the lives of local families and Cancer Fund for Children will continue to accept referrals for support.
Our team of Cancer Support Specialists will continue to deliver individual and group support to children and young people by phone and online helping to reduce isolation, respond to any worries they may have and crucially connect them with other young people experiencing cancer.
Our team will also deliver online videos providing advice and guidance to families on how to navigate isolation and manage anxiety and stress during these uncertain times.
Our telephone line 028 9080 5599 will operate as normal and young people and families can continue to contact us by email [email protected]
During this worrying time, we need your support more than ever. With coronavirus having a major impact on day to day running of most organisations, we are facing the same level of disruption and jeopardy. Cancer Fund for Children is 90% reliant on the fundraising efforts and the generosity of the local community to deliver our services.
Following advice from the Department of Health and Public Health Agency we have had to cancel our upcoming fundraising events which means our ability to function as a normal charity is no longer possible.
To help us be there for families there are three ways you can continue to support us.
It is with kindness and support that we show to each other that we will get through these unprecedented times together.
On behalf of the team at Cancer Fund for Children thank you for your understanding and your continued support.
Phil Alexander, CEO
