A message for my Auburn Police Division friends

Be proud to be a police officer because it lets others know you have the courage to do things that many people are either unable, unprepared or just unwilling to do. Take solace in knowing that cowards who criticize you for taking action when they would cower in fear and trepidation are ironically the same people you work passionately to protect from harm because they are often too weak to do it for themselves let alone others.?Be thankful you work in a country that promotes good triumphing over evil and justice prevailing over inequality. Know that if you perish in the line of duty, as Officer William Buechner did last night, society will be a better place as a result of your untimely sacrifice. Will sacrificed his life for an Auburn citizen he had never met. Faced with the same situation again, I know every Auburn police officer would not hesitate to act; it's what you do and who you are.

My heart is with the men and women of the Auburn Police Division and my prayers continue for the full recovery of Officers Webb Sistrunk and Evan Elliott and Officer Buechner's family.
